About Keith Ward
I’m a mostly self-taught Illustrator. While I did spend time studying ‘Fine Arts’ in college, my real education, especially in the world of illustration, came about working in the printing industry. There I was exposed to some terrific designers and illustrators, as well as the need to meet deadlines, create artwork that had visual punch, and do whatever was necessary to please your client!
After leaving the printing biz, I became a freelance illustrator, schlepping my portfolio around to any art director who’d give me the time to show my stuff. While I would try my hand at almost any media a client might ask for, I eventually narrowed my emphasis down to pen & ink and it’s cousin scratchboard, and watercolors, often in combination with colored pencils.
When the computer revolution began in the ’90’s, I began exploring how to incorporate the computer as another tool in my artistic toolbox, and now do most, if not all, of my art at least partially with the assistance of the computer.
Every project is a challenge and a joy, an opportunity to hone my skills, maybe learn some new ones, and create some fantastic art, hopefully for you!
